Birth Assistance for Mares

The birth of a new foal is always an exciting moment. For those who have no experience or find it too exciting to assist with the birth themselves, we offer this service. Our years of experience and use of advanced technologies ensure a safe birth.

Technology and Guidance

• Camera system : We work with a closed camera system in combination with a birth alarm from Foalstart. This system allows us to monitor the mare 24/7 without disturbing her.
• Foalstart Birth Alarm : Foalstart offers the possibility to place a transmitter in the vagina of the mare. As soon as the leg bladder comes out, the alarm goes off. This allows us to be present at the birth within seconds.

Childbirth and Aftercare

• Direct Presence : When the alarm goes off, we are at the mare within seconds. If something unexpected happens, we are the first to intervene quickly.
• Continuous Supervision : From the moment of birth until the foal stands, drinks, pees and poops, we stay close to the mare. We ensure that the afterbirth is expelled smoothly and completely. If this is not the case, we immediately call in the help of a veterinarian to prevent adverse effects for the mare.

Birth stables

• Spacious Stables: Our birthing stables are 5 x 5 meters, equipped with doors and fronts that can be fully opened. This provides ample space for the mare to do her thing and for us to move around the mare and provide assistance if necessary.
